Got up and made eggs/had cereal. Alex didn't sleep well-tossing and turning all night -so I let him sleep another hour and I hung out in the kitchen and then made breakfast for us. I even brought it to him in bed--what a good wife I am hehehe!
Once he got up and we ate, it was off to explore Krakow. What a great quaint city. We only stayed about 5 min away from the main square and it was very easy to navigate here. Pretty much a straight shot to the main town.
We ate so much in this city and it was glorious!!!
Lunch was pierogies for me (potato& onion, spinach, mushroom&cabbage, and Alex had a pork one)-they were delicious!
Alex had kielbasa with bread.
We both shared a nutella crepe which was just scrumptious! I took some pictures of how they make these crepes, so check my fb. But the smoother was really neat.
The main market square had tons of food, craft, and souvenir tents, even fresh flowers too!
We saw the Wawel Royal Castle, Jewish Quarter, Church of the Virgin Mary. At the church they have a trumpet player who plays every morning, noon, and night. This is what was used to open and close the city back in the day when no clocks existed.
We had a banana and granola bar as a snack while we explored!
1st impressions: Danielle's favorite city, less smoking, very city-like, food was the best, lots of English.
We had cupcakes later in the evening and they were mouthwatering! Alex had an oreo one and I had a peanut butter cup! Yum!!
For dinner I had a fantastic vegan burger which was delicious! Alex had the opposite of course. He had an authentic meat and bread dish which was a massive slice of bread with garlic spread then meat scoop and added sausage!! We are such opposite when it comes to meat!!! But we both enjoyed our meals very much and we got to sit in the middle of the main market square and talk and eat and people watch. We are having such a great honeymoon and I couldn't imagine spending it with anyone but him! We sat and watch musicians play all American music so we sang along.
We got through this small city pretty fast --very manageable by foot! We sat through sundown in the square-just love talking to him!!--and once it got really chilly we decided to head back to the apartment to get our bags (they let us store them in the closet even though they rented the place out to someone else).
*One interesting thing is that light switches for room are outside the room so for instance the bathroom's light switch is before you enter the bathroom.
Guys have bigger builds here compared to Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, but no muscular definition in anyone. There were a lot more pigeons too which was really annoying. Very fair skin for women. We felt very safe in this city and it was so easy to navigate.
Once we got our bags, it was off to the train. We had about an hour so we walked around the mall in the station-3 floors of stores it was gigantic! Then boarded our first night train. We had our own double train cart room with 2 bunk beds. We had a closet to hang items, a sink with bottled water and soap. It was rather tiny but doable for the 2 of us.
The night train was 9 hours to Prague, Czech Republic. We pretty much got ready for bed right away and got into the beds as quickly as we could. Alex slept on top since the A/C was coming out at the top and I slept on bottom.
